Woman arrested at OR Tambo International in possession of cocaine valued at R1,6 million

On Friday night alert police officers at the OR Tambo International Airport arrested a 32-year-old South African woman shortly after she arrived from Dubai for possession of cocaine weighing 5,7kg and valued at R1,6 million.

During a joint operation consisting of members of the South African Police Service’s Trans International Investigation Unit, Tactical Response Team, Intelligence and K9 Units, police found a stash of drugs hidden in tins which were nicely sealed.

The woman was immediately detained and she is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court today, 9 May 2016, where she is expected to answer to a charge of dealing in drugs.

We have established from her passport entries that she has been a regular visitor abroad.
