High speed chase leads to dagga arrest

Members of the Harrismith Highway Patrol, Warrant Officer Sibeko and Warrant Officer Steenkamp, stopped a suspicious Toyota Corolla on the R74 road when the vehicle drove off at high speed.

The members gave chase and managed to stop it.

Five bags of dagga, weighing 87.4kg, to value of R87 400 were found in the boot of the vehicle. One suspect was found with a firearm and 11 rounds of ammunition in his possession. Large sums of money were also found on them.

The two suspects were travelling from Bergville to Benoni.

They were arrested and charged with dealing in dagga and the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
