Drugs confiscated and arrest made in Phoenix, Durban

Yesterday, 21 January 2016 at about 13:00, members of the Phoenix Drug Team together with Durban South K9 Unit received information about a house in Wylen area where it is alleged that drug trade takes place. Members then proceeded into the residence and conducted a search where they found 20 capsules of heroin as well as 35 straws of heroin. The estimate street value is R1500-00.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and for being in possession of drugs. The members proceeded to another house in Cretemore where they found 97 cartons of Pacific cigarettes to the value of R8000-00. A 40-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of illicit cigarettes. Both suspects will also appear today in the Phoenix Magistrates’ Court.

The Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni praised the members for the arrest of the suspects and drugs recovery. “I also thanked the members of the community who provided valuable information that led to the arrest and recovery of drugs,” she said.
